Dr. Esperanza Freitchen is a first-generation student and has dedicated her career to removing barriers to accessing postsecondary education for historically marginalized populations. In her tenure she has worked in education and nonprofits, serving as a JEDI professional, striving to improve equity for BIPOC communities. She serves as the Senior Director of Multicultural Student Services in the University of Arizona’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion. In this capacity she provides strategic oversight of the University’s seven cultural centers. Esperanza is a mom of two young adult daughters, three large rescue dogs, and owns a small business with her husband.
